Von Duprin is an Allegion company that manufactures exit devices of various kinds as well as electrical products. Von Duprin is known for bringing the first panic bar type device to the market in the early 1900's allowing for doors to be locked from the outside while allowing immediate egress from the inside. Von Duprin exit devices are recognized for their high quality and innovative technologies.
According to Allegion: "an independent study of more than 100 commercial facilities across the U.S. documented that Von Duprin exit devices require significantly less maintenance over a 30-year period than any other brand."
Von Duprin offers a narrow stile exit device that is very similar to the 98/99 series that is referred to as the 33A/35A series. The 33A/35A series has a more narrow latching mechanism for use on doors with narrow stiles.
Narrow Stile Exit Devices
22 Series Touch Bar Exit Devices
Von Duprin offers a more economical exit device with many of the key functions for an opening requiring an exit device. These exit devices have some of the same options available on the 98/99 series devices but are much more cost effective.
The standard trim functions available include:
Key locks and unlocks outside lever. (Standard or Classroom function)
Key retracts latchbolt. Pull handle is always rigid. (Nightlatch function)
Lever is always active and requires no key. (Blank Escutcheon)
Dummy pull handle trim that is always rigid. (Dummy trim)
Von Duprin's 88 series crossbar exit devices have a long push bar that extends between the lock body mechanism and the hinge case. These exit devices provide a beautiful architectural finish to a space and are available in many of the most common hardware finishes and lever styles. These exit devices do not have many electrical options (except for on the mortise device or blank escutcheon trim) due to the small amount of "real estate" available in the lock and hinge cases of the exit device.
