Keying of Locks

Keying of locks and cylinders can be done by Beacon's inhouse locksmith or it can be done at the lock manufacturer's factory.

Beacon's lockshop offers new key systems as well as making duplicates where authorized.

Keying of locks should be discussed as early in your project as possible. There is much to consider when it comes to the security of the building as well as the convenience needed by the end users.

Options include Open or Restricted keyways, high security mechanisms, and whether you need interchangeable cores or just conventional cores.

Speak with a Beacon representative to determine what your facility needs.

Common Mistake on Hollow Metal Doors

When installing a pair of hollow metal doors, a common occurance is to forget the application of the Z Astragal supplied with the inactive door leaf.

If there are flushbolts and/or an ASA strike prep in the edge of the inactive door, the tabs for mounting screws are found on the astragal.

The astragal must be installed prior to installing the strike plate or flushbolts. Without the astragal it can appear that the door is missing the proper hardware preps. But before you go requsting a replacement door, check if the Z astragal has been installed or not. Chances are that is all you need to do.
